chicago :: mommy and ella's adventure

A few weekends ago, Ella and I finally were able to make the trip to see the best friend and cousin in the world, Smudge. We made the drive, just the two of us for a girl's weekend! We had so much fun and it was so good "gathering" (ahem) at Smudge's awesome condo in a very cute part of downtown Chicago. The weather was not as awesome as we had hoped for, but there was no rain-so we were thankful. We spent time downtown, visited the Lincoln Park Zoo, and even enjoyed a beautifl walk along that side of Lake Michigan! It is such a bummer living so far away from you Smudge, but at least you live in a cool place we can make special visits to! Thank you for having us. :)

Love this area of the city. I saw this particular group of buildings more than enough within the first hour or two of being here as I was driving around and around the city block, waiting for a parking space to open up on the One Way street my cousin lives on!

Saturday morning we went to the zoo and looked around.

Lunch at Five Guys was also a highlight. If you have never been there and there is one within 100 miles of where you live (and you really like grease), I strongly recommend it. Sooo good...

Chicago as we know and love it...

I love it.

And check out the neighbor's creepy "face tree"...

The final activity, before Ella packed the car up and headed back for the mitten, was a nice, long, walk around the lakeside. Oh how I love Lake Michigan with the City right beside it...

And us. I love us too.

  1. I LOVE all the shots you took Smudgie!! It took me a minute but I just got the "gathering" joke, LOL. You know it! I love the one you took of my street with all the trees! And the zoo one with all the plants, really nice picture. And obviously, my favorite is the one of me and Ella from the zoo! xoxo

  3. Great pictures Smudge! Love them all! Beege has not ever taken me to Five Guys - but it looks delish. I'm hoping that my invitation will not get lost in the mail next time. . .
